Part V: Causes and Implications of the Mismanagement of National Security and Foreign Policy Chapter 11 analyzes the structural aspects of foreign and security policymaking in Israel as one of the central explanations of the patterns of Israeli policy-making in national security and foreign affairs. I focus on the effect of formal and informal structural factors on the making of Israel’s policy. Security policy has consistently dominated foreign policy. It challenges the fundamental assumptions that have guided the founding fathers of Israel’s national security and foreign policy and their successors.
